Ariël Jacobs has been unveiled as the new coach of Valenciennes FC a few days after the Ligue 1 side parted company with Daniel Sanchez.

The 60-year-old has arrived on a two-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months. Twice a title winner with RSC Anderlecht in his native Belgium, Jacobs lifted the Danish crown with FC København last season but was dismissed after a poor start to the current campaign. He joins Valenciennes as they sit bottom of Ligue 1, with four points from nine games going into Saturday's match at Stade Rennais FC.
