FC Barcelona are four points clear at the Spanish Liga summit following a 3-0 victory at RC Celta de Vigo on Tuesday night.
Barcelona, who have dropped just two points in 11 games this season, rarely looked threatened against Celta from the moment Alexis Sánchez reacted first to Cesc Fàbregas's parried shot and stroked in the rebound on nine minutes. Gerardo Martino's side doubled their advantage soon after the interval, Fàbregas's powerful effort deflecting in off Celta goalkeeper Yoel having initially struck the crossbar.
The former Arsenal FC captain got in on the act himself six minutes later, racing onto a Lionel Messi through ball before slipping his finish past Yoel. Though the hosts did go close themselves – most notably when Nolito rattled the woodwork from a free-kick – the Azulgrana always appeared comfortable. Barça are four points above second-placed Club Atlético de Madrid and nine ahead of Real Madrid CF after their Clásico triumph at the weekend.
On Friday, Martino's men entertain neighbours RCD Espanyol, who are eighth following their goalless home draw with Málaga CF in the day's only other Spanish top-flight fixture. Madrid are in action on Wednesday, with Atlético playing on Thursday.
