Michael Wiesinger has parted company with 1. FC Nürnberg after Sunday's 5-0 defeat by Hamburger SV left his side eight games without a win at the start of the Bundesliga season.
Nürnberg have endured a torrid opening to the 2013/14 campaign, a tally of five points leaving them third from bottom in the German top flight. "After an objective analysis of the season so far and some intensive talks, we reached a mutual decision that we have to go through with this step." Nürnberg general manager Martin Bader said of the decision to part with Wiesinger after ten months in charge.
"It was a very difficult decision, but we felt compelled to do this in the interest of the club." U23 coach Roger Prinzen will take charge while Nürnberg seek a permanent successor.
