Arsenal FC remain four points clear in the Premier League as all of the top five won on Wednesday night, including an Everton FC side who were 1-0 victors at Manchester United FC.
Nicklas Bendtner was given his first Premier League start since March 2011 against Hull City AFC and he headed in Carl Jenkinson's second-minute cross to set Arsenal on their way to a 2-0 win, confirmed by Mesut Özil early in the second half. Chelsea FC are still within four points but fell behind at bottom side Sunderland AFC and, after leading, were pegged back before winning 4-3.
Manchester City FC remain third after a 3-2 victory at West Bromwich Albion FC, holding off a late comeback. In fourth, Liverpool FC beat Norwich City FC 5-1, Luis Suárez striking four times including an outrageous long-range volley.
United are ninth and 12 points behind Arsenal after their defeat by fifth-placed Everton, who had not won at Old Trafford in more than 20 years. Tottenham Hotspur FC won 2-1 at Fulham FC, under new manager René Meulensteen, Southampton FC were defeated 3-2 by visitors Aston Villa FC, and Newcastle United FC fell 3-0 at Swansea City AFC.
