Paris Saint-Germain bounced back from the loss of their unbeaten Ligue 1 record to surge past bottom side FC Sochaux-Montbéliard 5-0.
Surprised 2-0 at Évian Thonon Gaillard FC on Wednesday, Paris were ahead on 14 minutes when Thiago Silva turned in Zlatan Ibrahimović’s pass. Early in the second half Thiago Motta teed up Ezequiel Lavezzi and then Edinson Cavani made it three, set up superbly by Ibrahimović, who got two late goals himself with a free-kick and then a breakaway.
The leaders are now four points ahead of LOSC Lille, who visit FC Girondins de Bordeaux on Sunday, when third-placed AS Monaco FC host AC Ajaccio. Olympique de Marseille conceded fourth place on Friday night with a 1-0 home loss to FC Nantes that spelled the end for coach Élie Baup.
AS Saint-Étienne's game with Évian was postponed due to frost, allowing Stade de Reims to go sixth by beating OGC Nice 1-0. FC Lorient moved ahead of Stade Rennais FC thanks to a 2-0 victory but Valenciennes FC remain in trouble as visitors EA Guingamp came from behind to draw 1-1.
