Paris Saint-Germain maintained their two-point lead at the Ligue 1 summit with a 3-1 triumph at Stade Rennais FC, with rivals AS Monaco FC beating EA Guingamp 2-0.

Thiago Motta opened the scoring with his first league goal of the season on 19 minutes, firing into the far corner from outside the area. Cedric Hountondji then brought down Blaise Matuidi to offer Zlatan Ibrahimović the chance to bury his 14th Ligue 1 effort this term from the penalty spot shortly after half-time, before Romain Alessandrini reduced the deficit from a free-kick.

Despite that goal, Laurent Blanc's men made sure of victory when Edinson Cavani found the net in added time. Monaco then replied with a success of their own, Anthony Martial hitting the target after just four minutes and Layvin Kurzawa following suit close to the interval, Guingamp having lost Jonathan Martins Pereira to a second yellow card midway through the first half.

Also on Saturday, fourth-placed FC Nantes went down 2-1 at home to Toulouse FC and OGC Nice arrested a run of seven consecutive losses by overcoming FC Sochaux-Montbéliard 1-0. FC Lorient won 2-1 at AC Ajaccio and the game between Évian Thonon Gaillard FC and Stade de Reims ended 1-1. On Friday, AS Saint-Étienne moved sixth by prevailing 1-0 at Montpellier Hérault SC in Rolland Courbis's first match as Montpellier coach.
