Liverpool FC moved to the top of the English table with a 3-1 victory against Cardiff City AFC, and Manchester City FC are second following a 4-2 success at Fulham FC.
The day after settling a contract extension at Anfield, Luis Suárez volleyed Liverpool's opener, set up Raheem Sterling for their second and produced another stylish finish to make it 3-0 by half-time in the early Premier League game, with Jordon Mutch reducing the arrears for Cardiff after the interval. City, meanwhile, showed a sense of drama, squandering a 2-0 half-time lead in west London, before goals in the final 20 minutes from Jesús Navas and James Milner secured the three points.
Manchester United FC cruised to a 3-1 victory at home against West Ham United FC, but Newcastle United FC remain just above the Red Devils in the table following a 3-0 triumph at struggling Crystal Palace FC. Elsewhere, Peter Crouch's goal allowed Stoke City FC to beat Aston Villa FC 2-1, Hull City AFC drew 1-1 at West Bromwich Albion FC and rock-bottom Sunderland AFC were held 0-0 at home against Norwich City FC.
