Borussia Dortmund closed in on second-placed Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Bundesliga as a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang double helped Jürgen Klopp's side to a hard-fought 2-1 win at bottom-of-the table TSV Eintracht Braunschweig.
After four league games without success, Dortmund were desperate for victory to stay in touch with the top two, but they needed Roman Weidenfeller to deny Jan Hochscheidt early on to keep them level. The visitors got themselves in front on 31 minutes, however, as Robert Lewandowski played a slick one-two with Marco Reus before crossing for Aubameyang, who provided the simplest of finishes at the back post.
The battling hosts were level nine minutes after the restart as a low corner was slid in off the woodwork by Benjamin Kessel. Dortmund's shaky run looked like continuing, yet, on 65 minutes, Reus drove through the centre before playing in Aubameyang on the left. The Gabonese forward drove a low, left-footed shot across goal and into the far corner to lift BVB within one point of Leverkusen, who face VfB Stuttgart on Saturday.
