Leaders FC Bayern München eased to a 4-0 win against SC Freiburg to maintain their remarkable unbeaten run this season, on a day full of goals in the Bundesliga.

Pep Guardiola's men chalked up their 19th win of the campaign thanks, in the most part, to Xherdan Shaqiri. The Switzerland midfielder proved a terrific deputy for the injured Franck Ribéry, scoring two in the space of eight minutes after Dante's 19th-minute header. It all but killed the contest off by half-time, Claudio Pizarro coming off the bench to round off the scoring late on. By then, though, Shaqiri had gone off with a thigh problem that rules him out of Wednesday's trip to Arsenal.

Third-placed Borussia Dortmund followed suit at home to mid-table Eintracht Frankfurt. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finished Henrikh Mkhitaryan's fine pass and pounced on a rebound to put BVB 2-0 up inside 20 minutes, a Robert Lewandowski penalty and a debut goal for January signing Miloš Jojić completing the rout.

Dortmund moved to within a point of second spot and Bayer 04 Leverkusen, who went down 2-1 to fourth-placed FC Schalke 04 in the evening game. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar did the damage 14 minutes from time, restoring the in-form visitors' lead after Felipe Santana's own goal had cancelled out Leon Goretzka's first half strike. It consigned Leverkusen, who hit the post late on with a Ömer Toprak header, to a fifth defeat in seven outings.

Elsewhere, a Dominick Kumbela hat-trick gave bottom side TSV Eintracht Braunschweig a vital 4-2 victory over fellow strugglers Hamburger SV, lifting them to within a win of safety. A pair of Sven Schipplock goals helped TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to a 4-1 triumph over VfB Stuttgart, while recent arrival Ludovic Obraniak hit a late equaliser for SV Werder Bremen at home against VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach.
