SSC Napoli came from a goal down to beat AC Milan 3-1 and move within three points of second-placed AS Roma.

Adel Taarabt announced himself in some fashion on his Rossoneri debut, opening the scoring after eight minutes with a superb goal. The Queens Park Rangers FC loanee drove inside from the left flank and curled the opener into the far bottom corner from outside the box.

Gökhan Inler then turned the game on its head. The Swiss midfielder scored a looping equaliser just three minutes later, before picking out Gonzalo Higuaín, who planted a header beyond Christian Abbiati on 56 to double the lead. Higuaín finished a well-worked move to seal the win late in the second half.

Three points behind Napoli are ACF Fiorentina, who maintained their push for a top-three finish with a 2-0 victory against Atalanta BC. Josip Iličić's elegantly curled free-kick set the Viola on their way on 16 minutes, though they did not finally put the game to bed until after Luca Cigarini's dismissal for the Bergamo side ten minutes from the end, with substitute Rafał Wolski then scoring after taking on the Atalanta defence single handed.

AC Chievo Verona's situation in the lower reaches of the table was hardly improved by a 3-0 loss at Udinese Calcio, Antonio Di Natale, Bruno Fernandes and Badu all on target in the second half.
