Juventus restored their 14-point lead at the top of Serie A as Carlos Tévez made the difference in a 1-0 win at Calcio Catania.
After AS Roma cut the gap with a win yesterday, the Bianconeri responded with a hard-fought success against their bottom-of-the-table opponents. With the match goalless at the break, Tévez grabbed the winner when he burst clear and drove low into the corner on 59 minutes. Any hopes Catania had of getting back on terms went with Gonzalo Bergessio's red card on 67 minutes, allowing Juventus to ease to the three points.
ACF Fiorentina took the spoils at SSC Napoli as fourth defeated third to close the gap between the two to seven points. The home side had Faouzi Ghoulam sent off in the first period, before Joaquín hit the winning strike with three minutes remaining. As for AC Milan, they ended a three-game losing sequence with a 1-1 draw at SS Lazio.
Parma FC are now 17 matches unbeaten in Serie A after a 1-1 draw against Genoa CFC took them level on points with FC Internazionale Milano, who suffered a 2-1 home defeat by Atalanta BC following Giacomo Bonaventura's 90th-minute winner. Roberto Soriano scored twice in UC Sampdoria's 5-0 win against Hellas Verona FC, while Bologna FC beat Cagliari Calcio 1-0 and Udinese Calcio downed US Sassuolo Calcio by the same score.
