Serie A strugglers Cagliari Calcio and Calcio Catania both parted company with their coaches this weekend.
Cagliari, seven points above the relegation zone in 15th, dismissed 39-year-old former player Diego López after Sunday's 3-1 home loss to AS Roma, their fourth defeat in five games. His successor will be Ivo Pulga, who coached Cagliari in 2012/13 with López as assistant and then swapped roles to become the Uruguayan's No2 last summer before leaving in February.
Bottom side Catania said goodbye to Rolando Maran following a 2-1 home defeat by Torino FC, a fifth reverse in succession, also on Sunday. The 50-year-old Maran, who had only returned in January having previously been replaced by Luigi De Canio in October, has now given way to Maurizio Pellegrino, Catania coach from 2001 to 2003 in Serie C1 and Serie B.
