AS Roma moved to within five points of Serie A leaders Juventus courtesy of a 3-1 victory against Atalanta BC.
Roma, beaten just twice in the league all season, rarely looked like picking up anything less than a win on Saturday evening from the moment that Rodrigo Taddei's deflected shot from the edge of the penalty area put them in front on 13 minutes. Adem Ljajić doubled the Giallorossi's advantage with a close-range finish just prior to half-time and Gervinho made it three after 63 minutes.
Though Atalanta pulled one back via Giulio Migliaccio, Atalanta could not find a way back and drop to ninth. Juventus will look to restore their eight-point cushion at the summit against Udinese Calcio on Monday.
In the day's other game, 19th-placed US Sassuolo Calcio climbed to within two points of safety with a 1-1 draw against Cagliari Calcio.
