AS Roma moved within five points of the summit with a 2-0 success against AC Milan that ensured leaders Juventus cannot seal the Italian title on Monday.

Rudi Garcia's men were on the brink of a fruitless opening 45 minutes when Miralem Pjanić conjured a crucial opening goal and Gervinho's second-half effort ensured Juventus will not claim the championship against struggling US Sassuolo Calcio on Monday.

Milan held firm at the Stadio Olimpico until two minutes before the break when Pjanić outwitted Riccardo Montolovo and Adil Rami on a mazy run from midfield before steering his finish low past Christian Abbiati. Victory was assured when the Milan goalkeeper repelled Francesco Totti's fierce drive and Gervinho tapped in with 25 minutes remaining.
