Chelsea FC and Paris Saint-Germain have agreed a fee reported to be nearly €50m for the sale of David Luiz to the Ligue 1 champions.

Luiz, 27, a UEFA Champions League winner with the Blues in 2012, has also agreed personal terms with Paris according to the French club. He is set to follow in the footsteps of  Brazilian international team-mate Alex, who left Stamford Bridge for the French capital in 2012. Brazil captain Thiago Silva also plays for Laurent Blanc's charges.

"Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea FC and David Luiz would like to confirm they have reached an agreement regarding the future transfer of the Brazilian international defender, which will go through when the transfer window opens," read a Paris statement.

"To fulfill the wish of the player to perform at his best at his upcoming home World Cup, the clubs and the player wanted to agree terms as soon as possible." Luiz was part of the Chelsea side that eliminated Paris from this season's UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
