HŠK Zrinjski have wrapped up the championship in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a game to spare after defeating FK Mladost Velika Obarska 2-0.
With last season's winners FK Željezničar only able to draw 1-1 at home to FK Sarajevo, Zrinjski knew victory would sew up their third crown following triumphs in 2004/05 and 2008/09. Stevo Nikolić and Radosav Aleksić grabbed the goals to leave Branko Karačić's side three points clear of second-placed NK Široki Brijeg with a superior head-to-head record.
Zrinjski's win against Mladost Velika Obarska was their eighth consecutive league success, with perhaps their most vital result coming at home against rivals Široki Brijeg last month. The visitors were leading 2-0 and looked set to take over at the summit, only for Zrinjski to rattle in three goals in the final 12 minutes to stay in pole position.
"Our goal was to finish higher than last time [ninth] and if we had a chance of the title to seize it," said Karačić. "We did not lose again after our defeat by FK Željeznicar in the 21st round of games and that was what made us champions. We're happy and we have the quality to get even better results. We fully deserve this title."
