UC Sampdoria will finish 12th in Serie A, one place above Udinese Calcio, after the teams played out an entertaining 3-3 draw on the final Saturday of the Italian season.
Sampdoria went into the match a point ahead of their hosts and made the better start, taking a tenth-minute lead through Stefano Okaka. Two quick goals from Udinese captain Antonio Di Natale (26, 32), turned the match around before half-time though, only for the visitors to respond through Éder eight minutes after the interval.
When Roberto Soriano made it 3-2 to Sampdoria two minutes later it seemed the points were heading to Genoa, but instead Di Natale ended the campaign on a memorable note, completing his hat-trick in the 88th minute to ensure the points were shared. Sampdoria end with 45 points, one more than their opponents.
