Molde FK have secured their third Norwegian league championship in four seasons with four games still to play.

Tor Ole Skullerud's side came from a goal down to beat Viking FK 2-1 in Stavanger on Saturday, with Harmeet Singh and Bjørn Bergmann Sigurdarson both on target in the second half. With nearest rivals Odds BK being held 2-2 at Aalesunds FK, the result means left Molde with an unassailable 13-point lead at the summit.

"It is a very good feeling to have secured the gold – it's fantastic. The only thought in my mind right now is that we want to get home and celebrate with our supporters," said Skullerud, who has overseen a seamless transition since replacing Cardiff City AFC-bound Ole Gunnar Solskjær last winter.

"We are very worthy champions – we have been the best team all through the season – and deserved every point we have taken." They have 65 so far, and a new league record is in their sights if their nine-match winning run continues. That includes two games in the Norwegian Cup, where the holders will meet Odd in the final on 23 November hoping to complete their first double.
