AC Cesena have parted company with coach Pierpaolo Bisoli, appointing Domenico Di Carlo as his replacement after Sunday's 3-2 defeat at Atalanta BC left the Cavallucci Marini second from bottom in Serie A.

"The club wants to thank Bisoli and his staff for the mutual respect shown during these past [two] years, that saw the club earning a Serie A promotion that will forever stay in our history," Cesena said in a statement.

Bisoli led the club to promotion in 2013/14 but just one win and eight points in 14 games were not enough to save his job. The club hope Di Carlo will improve their current situation after reaching an agreement with the 50-year-old on Monday evening. A Coppa Italia winner as a midfielder at Vicenza Calcio, the former Parma FC, UC Sampdoria and AC Chievo Verona coach signed a contract that runs until June 2015.
