Atlético beat rivals Madrid in Copa del Rey

Club Atlético de Madrid beat Real Madrid CF 2-0 in the first leg of their Copa del Rey last-16 tie – Diego Simeone's side's third successive triumph over their capital rivals.

• Club Atlético de Madrid beat Real Madrid CF 2-0 in the first leg of their Copa del Rey last-16 tie.
• Second-half goals from Raúl García (penalty) and José María Giménez give Atlético victory.
• Madrid had won 22 successive games in all competitions but have now lost two in a row.
• Atlético have won the last three capital derbies in all competitions.
• Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench to replace James Rodríguez in the second half.
• Fernando Torres made his first appearance for Atlético since 2007 after re-signing this month.

• The second leg takes place at the Santiago Bernabéu on Thursday 15 January.
• The winners of this tie will face either Elche CF or FC Barcelona in the quarter-finals.
• Carlo Ancelotti's team are one point ahead of their city rivals in the Spanish Liga.
• Villarreal CF and Valencia CF also won their first legs; UD Almería and Getafe CF drew 1-1.
