David Scullion's firm angled finish proved to be the only goal of the game as Glentoran FC beat Portadown FC to win their 22nd Northern Irish Cup.
The 31-year-old made the breakthrough on 54 minutes, feeding Jordan Stewart on the left before bustling into the area to receive a return ball and putting a fine left-footed finish past David Miskelly. The former Aston Villa FC had also the best chance of the first half.
The victory was the Belfast side's second in the last three editions of the Northern Irish Cup, and books them a return to the UEFA Europa League next season, subject to confirmation from UEFA. "It's tough on Portadown but it was just meant to be our day and we will enjoy it," said Scullion.
