Celtic duo Johansen and Denayer honoured

Celtic FC completed a memorable weekend with Stefan Johansen and Jason Denayer picking up the main prizes at the Scottish Professional Footballers' Association (SPFA) awards.

On Saturday, Celtic clinched a fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership title when nearest challengers Aberdeen FC lost 1-0 at Dundee United FC. And the following evening, 24-year-old Norway midfielder Johansen was named SPFA Player of the Year by his peers, fending off competition from club-mate Virgil van Dijk, Aberdeen's Adam Rooney and Dundee FC striker Greg Stewart.

Meanwhile, 19-year Belgium defender Denayer picked up the young player accolade. "To be recognised by the other players is an amazing feeling," said Denayer, who will now return to parent club Manchester City FC after his campaign-long loan at Celtic Park. "When I came here I just wanted to play some games and get some experience, but now I've won trophies and personal awards so it has gone better than I expected."

Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC boss John Hughes took the honours as best manager after leading the Highlanders to their first-ever Scottish FA Cup final, beating Celtic to earn a 30 May Hampden Park showdown with Falkirk FC.
