The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) will pay tribute to former international Johnny Fullam during Saturday's UEFA EURO 2016 qualifier with Scotland after he passed away at the age of 75.
Fullam died in his native Dublin on Wednesday following an illness. Capped 11 times by the Republic of Ireland between 1960 and 1969, he started his club career in England with Preston North End FC, and went on to become a legend of the Irish domestic game, winning the FAI Cup a record eight times – six with Shamrock Rovers FC (including five in a row) and two with Bohemian FC. He also lifted two league titles before ending his playing days with Athlone Town in 1980.
"It was very sad to hear of the news of Johnny's passing," said FAI CEO John Delaney. "We will pay tribute to him on the big screen at the game on Saturday, and will also invite his family to the Georgia game in September."
