Peter Gilliéron has been re-elected as president of the Swiss Football Association (SFV-ASF) for a further two years.

Gilliéron, who stood unopposed at the weekend's delegates' meeting, was first elected as the Swiss association's president in June 2009 and will now take up his fourth term in office. A member of the UEFA Executive Committee since 2011, 62-year-old Gilliéron is currently also chairman of the UEFA Fair Play and Social Responsibility Committee and deputy chairman of the UEFA Club Licensing Committee.

The Swiss association's president said that qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and this summer's FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada had been particular recent highlights. "We want, of course, to qualify for [UEFA] EURO 2016," he said. "Even though 24 teams will participate, it's not a foregone conclusion that we'll qualify. The European Championship in France would be wonderful: the stadiums are perfect, it's close to us and the fans can travel along with us.

"In order to remain successful at all levels, we have to do more to promote young talent," Gilliéron added. "We want to refine the selection process, in which we don't just always take the best but also select those who have the most potential. We can't afford to miss out on a young talent."
