On the basis of disciplinary investigations and at the request of an Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector, UEFA initiated on 6 March 2017 disciplinary proceedings against the player Mr Samir Nasri for a possible violation of the UEFA Anti-Doping Regulations. Specifically, the scope of these disciplinary proceedings contemplate the possible use of a prohibited method in accordance with sub-section M2, par. 2 of the WADA Prohibited List.
On 21 January 2017, Mr Nasri requested that UEFA retroactively grant him a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) for the use of this method.
This request was refused by the UEFA TUE Committee on 7 February 2017. Mr Nasri appealed against the decision of the TUE Committee to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
On 5 May 2017, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body took into account the appeal lodged by Mr Nasri with CAS and suspended the ongoing disciplinary proceedings against Mr Nasri until a decision was taken by CAS in the above-mentioned proceedings.
On 15 December 2017, CAS decided to dismiss the appeal of Mr Nasri and to uphold the decision of UEFA's TUE Committee to refuse the TUE.
Consequently, the proceedings initiated by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body will now continue.
UEFA has no further comment to make on these proceedings.
