Moldova round-up: Sheriff win Tiraspol derby

FC Sheriff Tiraspol maintained their four-point lead at the top of the table.

FC Zimbru Chisinau overcame FC Nistru Otaci to get back to winning ways in the latest round of games in Moldova.

Frunza goal decisive
On the frozen pitch a single goal, scored by Zimbru's star striker Viorel Frunza, separated the two teams and kept Zimbru in second place. Nistru were reduced to ten men when Serghey Lascencov was sent off midway through the second half.

Goalless Agro
Elsewhere, FC Agro Chisinau and FC Dacia Chisinau played out a scoreless draw while FC Sheriff Tiraspol, propelled by two goals from Ruslan Barburos, sealed a 4-2 victory against FC Tiraspol to maintain their four-point lead at the top of the table. Serghey Dadu scored twice for Tiraspol, but Cristian Tudor and Evgheny Patula sealed the win for Sheriff.

More problems for Hîncesti
Cash-strapped FC Hîncesti are still without a point from their first 12 games after losing 1-0 to FC Politehnica Chisinau. Dmitry Gusila settled the game on 82 minutes, while Hîncesti officials later admitted they are in serious danger of not being able to complete the season due to the financial crisis at the club.
