Welcome return
Dugarry returned to Europe in January after prematurely concluding his playing contract with Qatar Club in the Gulf state, and the ex-FC Girondins de Bordeaux and Olympique de Marseille forward had subsequently been trying to revive his career in French football.
Portuguese interest
The 32-year-old also enjoyed spells at AC Milan, FC Barcelona and Birmingham City FC, but the greatest interest in his services came from a new direction, SL Benfica in Portugal. "I honestly could not imagine learning another league although I was interested," he said.
'Miss my friends'
With 55 international caps and eight goals, as well as a French League Cup winner's medal with Bordeaux, Dugarry has decided to hang up his boots. "I'll especially miss my friends, but I'll wait until the end of their careers and then we'll do something together," he added. Petit announced his retirement last month.
