Difference of opinion over Yakin

Paris Saint-Germain FC will be without new Swiss signing Hakan Yakin for at least a month because of injury.

Recurring injury
However, it is unclear exactly how long Yakin, a €1.5m capture from FC Basel last month, will be sidelined for. The PSG medical staff diagnosed the problem as a recurring muscle strain that Yakin has been suffering from for the past six years.

Second opinion
But the matter was confused when Yakin returned to Switzerland to seek a second opinion from his personal doctor Heinz Buhlmann, who informed him that he was suffering from a hernia and required surgery that would keep him out for a minimum two months.

New tests
On his return to France, PSG doctor Hakim Chalabi told Yakin, who is yet to make his debut for the club, that this particular diagnosis had been dismissed from the start and, to reassure the player, carried out further tests with specialist doctors.

Yakin's choice
"The experts have confirmed our original diagnosis," said Chalabi. "Now the choice is his. We have offered to treat him and we are at his service. But he is uncertain because he has been given two different opinions. He is free to make up his own mind, but if he decides to have an operation and there are complications, then he will have to look after them."
