Gençlerbirligi tire of Hassan tactics

Gençlerbirligi SK are to release their Egyptian international midfield player, Ahmed Hassan.

Patience snapped
Gençlerbirligi lost patience with the 28-year-old midfielder after he failed to open negotiations on a new contract within an agreed time frame. Gençlerbirligi general manager Cem Onuk said that Hassan had abused the club's "good will and tolerance".

No future here
"He is our player until the end of the season and we will continue to use him in our remaining matches even though he does not figure in our future plans," Onuk said.

'Lack of understanding'
Hassan, whose current deal expires on 31 May, is thought to have become unsettled by talk linking him with Turkey's big three clubs, Besiktas JK, Fenerbahçe SK and Galatasaray SK. "The club should have shown more understanding," the former Kocaelispor and Denizlispor player said. "I wanted more time."

El Saka signs
Meanwhile, Hassan's compatriot, defender Abdelzaher El Saka, has agreed a two-year contract extension with Gençlerbirligi, this season's Turkish Cup runners-up.
