Norway round-up: Champions keep going

Rosenborg BK continue to power ahead at the top of the table after a 5-0 defeat of Molde BK.

Rosenborg BK continue to power ahead at the top of the Tippeligaen after a 5-0 defeat of Molde BK.

Brattback double
The defending champions have started the new season impressively and have racked up 28 points out of a possible 30. Molde never looked like causing an upset on Saturday after Harald Brattbakk scored twice inside four first-half minutes. He notched the first midway through the opening period and added a second from the penalty spot shortly afterwards. Frode Johnsen made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time and increased the lead with his second of the night after 57 minutes. Øyvind Storflor capped the scoring with Rosenborg's fifth eleven minutes from the end.

Fourth away defeat
The round was brought to an impressive end by Vålerenga Fotball, who claimed only their third win of the season after humbling Bryne FK 3-0 on Monday night. Bryne came into the match having lost all four of their away matches this season and it was little surprise when they slipped behind after just ten minutes through a Freddy Dos Santos goal.

Second goal
Dos Santos then scored his second seven minutes after half-time to double Vålerenga's lead before Andreas Augustsson wrapped things up from the penalty spot four minutes from time. Despite the defeat, Bryne, who have won four of five home matches, still sit above Valerenga in eighth spot courtesy of their better goal difference.

Five for Sogndal
The rest of the weekend programme saw five matches on Sunday, with the most emphatic performance coming from Sogndal IL who won 5-0 at home against Odds BK. FK Bodø/Glimt were also impressive in a 2-0 triumph at Aalesund FK. There was also an away day success for SFK Lyn, who won 1-0 at Tromsø IL. Finally, SK Brann and Stabæk IF played out a 3-3 draw while Lillestrøm SK were held 1-1 at Viking FK.
