Atlético blow for Kežman

Club Atlético de Madrid's Serbo-Montenegrin international striker Mateja Kežman will be out for two months after aggravating an injury to his right knee.

Decisive blow
The 26-year-old had been struggling with a cartilage problem for several weeks but took a blow to the already damaged joint during last weekend's Primera División match against Deportivo Alavés. Doctors have confirmed he has torn the cartilage and the former PSV Eindhoven and Chelsea FC forward will undergo surgery in Belgium tomorrow.

Christmas break
Kežman, who has scored four goals in 13 league games for Atlético since joining from Chelsea, said: "I hadn't been feeling right for several weeks, and then against Alavés I received a blow which made my knee swell. There's never a good time to be injured, but now we have a two-week break and I will start my rehabilitation as soon as possible."
