Villar calls for government review

The Spanish Football Federation president has asked for a government report on the organisation.

Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Angel María Villar has called for a government report into the internal situation at the organisation following rumours of financial irregularities.

'Necessary action'
Villar has asked Spain's secretary of state for sport, Juan Antonio Gómez-Angulo, to review the situation after the RFEF executive last week insisted it would take "the necessary actions to clarify and, if necessary, clear up all matters relating to the present climate".

Urgent review
In a letter to the minister, Villar demanded "a review into matters which have been called into question recently by some parties". The government body which Gómez-Angulo oversees, the Consejo Superior de Deportes, is expected to conduct an inquiry based on points raised by Villar.
