Krul earns 'dream' Newcastle move

Newcastle United FC have signed Tim Krul to provide competition for goalkeepers Shay Given and Steve Harper.

Third arrival
The 17-year-old, who captained the Netherlands as they finished runners-up at May's UEFA European Under-17 Championship finals in Italy, has moved on a three-year contract from ADO Den Haag in his homeland. He becomes Newcastle's third summer signing after the arrivals of midfielders Scott Parker and Emre Belezöglu.

'Fantastic move'
He said: "It's a fantastic move for me to sign for such a big club. To come and play in England has always been a dream. When I was a young boy I always used to say to my father that I wanted to come and play in England." Krul will represent the Netherlands at the forthcoming FIFA World Youth Championship in Peru this September.
