Newcastle United FC have re-signed midfielder Lee Clark on a short-term contract, eight years after he first left.

Summer spell Clark, released at the end of the 2004/05 campaign by Fulham FC, had been training with Newcastle in recent weeks. The English club are at home tomorrow against RC Deportivo La Coruña in the second leg of their UEFA Intertoto Cup semi-final, needing to overcome a 2-1 deficit if they are to reach the final.
Premiership experience The 32-year-old Clark made his debut for Newcastle in the 1990/91 season and went on to make 195 appearances, scoring 23 goals. He moved on to Sunderland AFC in summer 1997 and spent two campaigns there before a six-season stay at Fulham.
