Injury marks end to Henry season

Arsenal FC's France striker Thierry Henry has been ruled out for the rest of the season after damaging groin and stomach muscles in the UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal FC forward Thierry Henry has been ruled out for the rest of the season after damaging groin and stomach muscles in the London club's UEFA Champions League meeting with PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.

Troubled campaign
The 29-year-old, who has scored ten goals in 17 Premiership appearances during an injury-troubled campaign, came on as a second-half substitute in the midweek match at the Arsenal Stadium despite suffering from a foot complaint. The English side drew 1-1 to go down 2-1 on aggregate. Currently fourth in the Premiership and out of title contention, Arsenal have also exited the FA Cup and lost the English League Cup final in the last fortnight.

Season over
"Thierry Henry will be out for a minimum of three months," said manager Arsène Wenger. "Unfortunately this means he will miss the rest of this season, both domestically and internationally, but we are confident he will be ready for the start of next season." The news leaves France without Henry for at least their UEFA EURO 2008™ Group B qualifier against Lithuania on 24 March.
