Valencia CF have confirmed the capture of highly-rated CA Boca Juniors midfielder Ever Banega for €18m in coach Ronald Koeman's first signing of the winter transfer window.

The 19-year-old Argentinian penned a five-and-a-half year contract with the Spanish club after passing medical tests. A FIFA U-20 World Cup champion with Argentina in 2005, Banega broke into Boca's first team last season as a replacement for Fernando Gago who left for Real Madrid CF in December 2006. He has been earmarked to replace Jaime Gavilán after he was loaned to Getafe CF for the rest of the season.
