UEFA Champions League berth chasers Olympique de Marseille aided their cause with a 3-1 win against Ligue 1 leaders Olympique Lyonnais as did AS Nancy-Lorraine with a 1-0 success at home to Paris Saint-Germain FC.

Prolific Niang
Lyon remain six points clear of FC Girondins de Bordeaux, 2-0 victors at Stade Rennais FC yesterday, despite a setback in Marseille that was prompted by two quick first-half strikes. Djibril Cissé opened the scoring after 26 minutes and the lead was doubled by Mamadou Niang (28). The champions' hopes were raised on the stroke of half-time when Lorik Cana found his own net, but Marseille were not fazed and restored their two-goal cushion after the break when Niang scored his 15th league goal of a fruitful campaign.

PSG problems
Marseille are still three points behind Nancy after a diving header by Marc-Antoine Fortune on 67 minutes ensured PSG's trip from the capital went unrewarded. That result leaves Paul Le Guen's side in the relegation zone alongside RC Strasbourg on 35 points. Toulouse FC and RC Lens also have the same tally but are above the bottom three on goal difference with the latter having a game in hand.
