The German Football Association (DFB) has unanimously re-elected president Dr Theo Zwanziger at its assembly in Essen. Dr Zwanziger's new term of office runs until 2013.
The 65-year-old jurist, who has been a member of the DFB executive committee since 2001, was re-elected by all 255 delegates. Dr Zwanziger has been DFB president since 2004, first jointly with Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder, and then as sole president since 2006. "I feel great respect and will give my best over the next three years," he said.
Dr Zwanziger summarised his core programme for his next term of office. "Football is the future. It is emotional and social, and it should be sustainable – in both the professional and amateur sectors. I support football geared towards certain values. This sport must not be discriminatory. Football must not exclude, it must embrace. This country and football offer equal opportunities.
"Football in Germany is currently very well positioned in terms of the overall conditions," Dr Zwanziger continued. "We have a clear commitment to men's and women's top-level football. We have social commitment. The important theme now is sustainability. Our commitment in various areas must not be something that is just a passing phase. We are taking our mission against discrimination, violence and corruption very seriously."
