Alessandro Nesta and Filippo Inzaghi have followed the lead of team-mates Thiago Silva and Mark van Bommel by signing contract extensions with AC Milan.

Nesta and Inzaghi, whose previous deals were due to expire at the end of June, have agreed terms on a further 12 months with the Italian champions. Their decisions come a day after Thiago Silva and Van Bommel lengthened their deals until summer 2016 and 2012 respectively.

Centre-back Nesta joined Milan from S.S. Lazio ahead of the 2002/03 campaign and, like Inzaghi, has won both the Scudetto and the UEFA Champions League on two occasions with the Rossoneri. A FIFA World Cup winner in 2006, the former Italian international has featured in 26 of Milan's 37 Serie A matches this term.

Inzaghi, meanwhile, made his return from a six-month injury lay-off in Saturday's 4-1 defeat of Cagliari Calcio. The 37-year-old forward, who signed from Juventus in 2001, damaged the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee during a league game against US Città di Palermo on 10 November.

Milan have also confirmed that Nigeria defender Taye Taiwo has undergone a medical with a view to moving to San Siro from Olympique de Marseille.
