Apollon Limassol FC will meet AC Omonia in the Cypriot Cup final on 18 May following Wednesday's impressive 2-1 away win against Anorthosis Famagusta FC.
Held 1-1 in the first leg, Andreas Michaelides's Apollon forced extra time in the return fixture in Larnaca when Mustapha Bangura cancelled out an early goal from Cafú 13 minutes from time. Miljan Mrdaković then struck in the added time to send his side to a second successive final on 18 May. They will meet Omonia, who overcame Ethnikos Achnas FC 2-1 on aggregate in the other last-four tie.
"It's a great feeling to know you're in the final," said Michaelides. "We didn't start that well but we never gave up, took risks and it worked out for us in the end." Omonia's caretaker coach Neophytos Larkou – their third man in charge this season – added: "We have made it to the final and we'll do whatever we can to win the trophy. We'd like to thank the fans, who were again by our side and were patient."
