Former Norway coach Egil Olsen has taken charge of Eliteserien side Fredrikstad FK nearly five years after leaving his last club job at English side Wimbledon FC.
Eggen steps back
Knut Torbjørn Eggen, who coached Fredrikstad to tenth place in the 2004 season, will assist Olsen along with Per Egil Ahlsen, who stepped down from the helm in order to spend more time with his family. Olsen said: "I was sceptical about Fredrikstad's advances at first, but they impressed me with their positivity, and I do also look forward to working with Knut Torbjørn."
Proud record
Olsen, nicknamed 'Drillo', was in charge of Norway between 1990 and 1998 and presided over a period of unprecedented success, as they qualified for the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups, at the latter defeating eventual finalists Brazil to progress past the group stage. Since leaving Wimbledon, Olsen has worked as a summariser for television and last year coached Norway in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship finals.
