Substitute Eidur Gudjohnsen scored a super volleyed winner late on as FC Barcelona's defence of the Spanish title began with a 3-2 victory at RC Celta de Vigo.
Baiano opener
The Iceland forward replaced Ludovic Giuly in the 74th minute and fired wildly over when presented with a first chance to win the game for Barça. Gudjohnsen made no mistake in the 88th minute, though, as he cleverly controlled the ball near the penalty spot, flicked it up via a defender and volleyed in. The European champions had fallen behind three minutes before the break as Fernando Baiano sent the home fans at the Balaídos wild with Celta's first goal of the season.
Iniesta assist
Samuel Eto'o pulled Barcelona level in the 56th minute and they moved ahead on the hour as Lionel Messi spun in the area and fired in with his left foot after terrific work from Andrés Iniesta. Gustavo López levelled the scores again in the 65th minute with another neat finish from close range, a strike which looked to have won his side a point before Celta midfielder Iriney Santos (80) was dismissed and Gudjohnsen took full advantage.
