Article body
Russian Premier-Liga outfit FC Khimki have signed Serbia Under-21 striker Dragan Mrdja on a three-year contract.
Success story
The powerful 23-year-old, who scored in the semi-final win against Belgium and the final loss to the Netherlands at last month's UEFA European Under-21 Championship, spent his first five seasons as a professional at FK Crvena Zvezda yet played only 39 matches, notching seven goals, before joining Belgium's K. Lierse SK in January 2006. Mrdja was subsequently loaned to SV Zulte Waregem for the second half of 2006/07 and in total made 35 Eerste Klasse appearances, scoring twice. He now heads back east following Lierse's relegation from the top flight.
