Japanese international Shunsuke Nakamura has committed his future to Scottish champions Celtic FC by signing a one-year contract extension.

'Delighted'
The 27-year-old midfielder is now tied to Celtic until the summer of 2009, having marked his debut season in Scotland with winner's medals in the Premier League and Scottish League Cup. "I am pleased to agree a one-year contract extension," he said. "I am delighted to be playing at Celtic, one of the world's biggest clubs." Nakamura, who scored in Japan's 3-1 FIFA World Cup defeat by Australia on Monday, joined the Glasgow side from Italy's Reggina Calcio 12 months ago. Manager Gordon Strachan added: "Despite other clubs being interested, 'Naka' has made it clear that Celtic is where he wants to be."
