Article body
Wisla Kraków completed the first part of what promises to be a domestic double after recovering from last week's shock 1-0 first-leg home defeat by Wisla Plock to win the Polish Cup 3-1 on aggregate.
Fine opener
Plock were favourites to lift the trophy after their surprise success in Krakow, but it was not to be as Wisla won their fourth national cup. In front of 12,000 fans, Wisla took the lead in the 27th minute after Maciej Zurawski scored from 25 metres. Plock could have moved themselves back into an aggregate lead minutes later but Ireneusz Jelen wasted a golden opportunity.
Defensive tactics
The second half was all Wisla, and Marcin Kuzba sealed the victory by scoring twice in a two-minute spell shortly after the hour. "Plock played defensively and it was hard to play against a team deploying those tactics," said Kuzba. "We promised to bring the cup back to Krakow and we have done that." Wisla have a six-point lead in the Ekstraklasa with five games remaining.
