Molde FK opened the new Tippeligaen season today with a 2-0 win against SK Brann.
Cracking volley
Goals from Icelandic striker Andri Sigthórsson (13) and Anders Hasselgård (86) sealed the points for the home side in a disappointing opening game. Sigthórsson pounced after Brann keeper Ivar Rønningen failed to hold a free-kick from Karl Oscar Fjørtoft, while Hasselgård's goal was a cracking volley from 15 metres out.
'Not much to look at'
Striker Thorstein Helstad came closest for the visitors but his header came back off the crossbar in the second half. "It was a tough game, not much to look at, but it was important to win the first one," said Molde coach Gunder Bengtsson.
