Lesson in finishing
Ignass Dedur, Maris Verpakovskis, Vladimirs Kolesnicenko, Mihails Miholaps and Mihails Zemlinskis from the penalty spot, gave LU/Daugava a lesson in finishing as Skonto they struck five without reply.
Joy for Auda
But the boot was on the other foot as newly promoted FK Auda defeated FK Riga 2-0 thanks to goals from Pavel Korchagin, and Juris Idionovs, from the penalty spot.
Ventspils come from behind
Last year's runners-up FK Ventspils came from behind to beat FK Valmiera 3-1. Vits Rimkus, Sergei Zangareyev and Anatoly Lukyanchikov struck second-half goals after Yuri Adamovich had put the visitors in front three minutes before the break.
Late winner for Liepajas
Valmiera finished the game with ten men after Modris Zujevs was dismissed in the 76th minute. FHK Liepajas Metalurgs snatched a late winner against FC Dinaburg with Janis Rinkus scoring in the 89th minute.
