FC Dinamo Bucuresti extended their lead at the top of the Romanian first division to four points after a 2-1 victory over FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt.
Kirita opener
Two goals in the space of two minutes did the damage at the Ceahlaul stadium to strengthen Dinamo's title challenge ahead of second-placed FC Steaua Bucuresti. After a goalless first half, Dinamo finally took the lead when Giani Kirita fired into the net in the 56th minute. Two minutes later Vlad Munteanu made it 2-0.
Consolation goal
The home side pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining thanks to Adrian Solomon to set up a frantic finish but the visitors held firm.
Biggest win of the season
In the final game of the weekend, FC Rapid Bucharest secured the biggest win of the season so far by beating UM Timisoara 6-0 to move third in the table. Daniel Pancu opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a shot from ten metres out. Pancu increased the lead on 33 minutes to go to the top of the country's goalscoring list with 12 goals.
Four goals for Pancu
Serban scored the third a minute later, after receiving a long pass from the left and Florin Soava then made it 4-0 before the break. In the second half Pancu completed his hat-trick on 67 minutes before scoring ahis foirth, and his side's sixth, with five minutes remaining.
