HNK Rijeka have been fined €2,670 following crowd trouble but will now be able to play Friday’s crucial Croatian Cup quarter-final second leg at home.

Trouble against Hadjuk
The club had originally been told they would have to play the 7 December game against NK Dinamo Zagreb at a venue more than 150km from their Kantrida stadium. This was because of the trouble at their last home league match against HNK Hadjuk Split, which Rijeka lost 2-1.

Eleven arrested
Police arrested eleven people after supporters ran on to the pitch, and four people were left injured. The Croatian Football Federation ordered an immediate ban on all matches at the stadium until a full investigation was carried out but has now decided on the fine instead of a ban.

Dinamo in front
Rijeka lost 1-0 in the first leg of the quarter-final but will be hoping to capitalise on home advantage to keep their cup dream alive. The team are fifth in the Croatian Premier League, one place behind Friday’s opponents.
