FC Rapid Bucuresti have changed the name of their ground to honour a former coach.

Calls from supporters
The Giulesti stadium will now be known as the Valentin Stanescu stadium after calls from a leading supporters group, The Aristocratic Club, to immortalise one of the club's most successful coaches.

'A tribute'
Stanescu was in charge of the Rapid side that won the Romanian championship for the first time in 1967 and is a firm favourite amongst the fans. Club secretary Cristian Costache said: "Valentin Stanescu won the Romanian championship for the first time for us and won promotion for Rapid when we were in Divizia B. This is a tribute to him."
